As the year winds down, this newsletter edition shares the latest updates, helpful learning resources, and tips to get even more out of your NIC Systems apps.

App Updates

Here’s what’s new across the NIC Systems app lineup this month:

Inventory Restrictions

Error messages got a helpful upgrade. When an item is blocked from a transaction, you’ll now see exactly which item and lot triggered the restriction. No more digging around to figure out what went wrong.

Item Tracked Flushing

Prioritizing items for automatic consumption is now more flexible. You can update the priority on multiple lines at once, making it easier to fine-tune how consumption should work.

Lot Algorithms

A new option lets you include the last digit of the year in the lot numbers generated by your algorithm. It’s a small change that gives you a little more control over how your lot numbers are structured.

TEKLYNX SENTINEL Connector and Mobile Data Collection

Several bug fixes to improve stability.

Learning Updates

Sales Restrictions Video

A new walkthrough video is live for the Sales Restrictions app. It shows how you can control exactly which items and quantities customers are allowed to purchase, making it simple to get up to speed.

Inventory Restrictions Online Help

The online help for Inventory Restrictions has been fully rewritten. The updated content includes clearer steps for automatically adding restrictions to tracked inventory, plus improved guidance on managing expiring inventory, along with other helpful updates.

Tip of the Month

Filter smarter in Business Central

Use special characters to refine your filters. Remember: filters are case-sensitive, searches are not.

  • @ – Case-insensitive. @ten finds “ten” regardless of capitalization.
  • * – Unknown characters. *Co* finds text containing “Co” (case-sensitive).
  • | – Either/or. 1200|1300 finds records with 1200 or 1300.
  • .. – Interval. 22..24 finds dates from the 22nd to 24th of the current month.
Quick keyboard shortcuts
  • Alt + N – Create a new record
  • F6 – Move to the next FastTab or part
  • F8 – Copy data from the cell above
